If you’re wondering where we’ve been or why we haven’t updated the site in a while you’ll be happy to know that we were quietly working on a very big project. I was going to wait until our official opening date tomorrow, but I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Nutrex Solutions is proud to announce the launch of our brand new private personal training facility on the Hamilton mountain.
Our facility is equipped like a commercial gym with one very important exception…it’s totally private. We also offer personalized training and nutrition programs that blow away our competition.
What do you mean by private?
I mean that there will be no memberships to our facility. Everyone inside the studio is either a trainer or being trained by one of our trainers. At any one time you might encounter a maximum of 5 other people and that number includes our trainers. Our goal is to create an intimate environment where you can focus on your training and not have to worry about being embarrassed by onlookers while awkwardly learning exercises in a large commercial gym.
What do you mean by personalized plans?
We believe that everyone is different and that those differences require very specific and personal attention. These are the kind of differences that don’t get the attention they deserve in a large group class. Did you ever wonder why some people get into great shape using a specific plan while others fail miserably? Quite obviously, we’re all different and we all need different strategies. What works for one may not work for another.
At our facility we offer everything from consulting to one-on-one (and I mean we spend every second with you) personal training for beginners all the way up to advanced trainees.
This sounds great! Where exactly is this place?
On May 1st our doors open at 1001 Rymal Road East at Rockland (Between Upper Ottawa and Upper Gage). We’re located just minutes from the Linc so getting here is easy from almost anywhere in the city.
BUT there is a catch…
If you want to check out our new facility you’re going to have to make an appointment. To ensure that our clients receive our full attention we ask that all visits are by appointment only. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until our official grand opening celebration (Details to come later).
If you’ve been waiting to get in shape for summer sign up now to avoid the rush. Spaces for personal training are very limited.
Hope to see you all soon!
Please note that as of May 1st our new phone number will be 905-667-4828.

You recently wrote about taking L-Glutamine to kill carb cravings. I get cravings for sweets and starches all the time. How frequently can I take this magic blend? When should it be taken?
Since glutamine is simply an amino acid (a protein building block), it is completely safe and you don’t need to worry about taking too much. However, glutamine is not particularly cheap so the limiting factor is more likely to be your wallet than anything else. If you feel a craving come on simply mix up the concoction and drink it down. The craving should pass within minutes.
You should note that cravings are relatively normal during the first couple weeks of a healthy eating plan, but they should not be a permanent fixture. If after a couple of weeks you’re still having cravings frequently (i.e., a couple times per day) you probably need to reevaluate your diet.
When I get my period I get bloated and my weight jumps up by several pounds. This is incredibly frustrating given that it usually takes me a whole month to lose that much weight in the first place. Is there anything I can do about this?
Take comfort in the fact that you’re not alone. In fact, almost every premenopausal woman I’ve trained has gained weight due to her cycle during one week of the month. Some women even gain as much as 8 pounds! The good news is that it is unlikely that all of the weight gained is fat. If you adhere to your plan most, if not all, of the weight gained should disappear after a week.
The bad news is that women are actually predisposed to gain fat during this time so if you do deviate from your plan the results can be disastrous. Hormonal changes make it difficult for a woman’s body to manage carbohydrates during her period. Unfortunately, these are exactly the foods that most women report craving. Chocolates and sweets will make you gain more fat than usual if you eat them during this time of the month.
To sum up, you are probably going to gain weight during (or prior to) your period and there isn’t much you can do about it. However, it should disappear soon after if you don’t cave in to your cravings. To help manage cramping, cravings, and mood changes associated with PMS consider taking a high potency fish oil supplement such as Nutrasea. The increase in serotonin has been shown to improve all these symptoms. Additionally, fish oil helps to improve carbohydrate management so if you do cave the damage will be less severe.
You’ll need to take about 1 tablespoon per day for the whole month to experience the benefits. You might also want to keep the glutamine and heavy cream on hand as well.
